Core strengths of the Cedar Rapids Community School District are robust academic programs, an experienced and qualified faculty and staff, rich diversity in enrichment and extracurricular activities, and the sense of community our schools provide. Founded in 1855, we are the second largest school district in the State of Iowa and home to 21 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 3 comprehensive high schools, and an alternative high school. The Cedar Rapids Community School District is proud to be a part of the Iowa BIG program in partnership with the College Community School District. This project-based interdisiplinary program is based on the core design principles to use student passion to drive deep learning, engage students in authentic community projects and connect them more deeply to the people and resources of the community.
