Event Description: Nationally-renowned tenor Chris Carr headlines a multimedia performance of American and Russian art. Music includes arias from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Heggie’s Moby Dick, and art songs of Rachmaninoff and Griffes, with projected translations. Additional music will feature Orchestra Iowa’s Maestro Tim Hankewich and Mount Mercy University piano instructor Tony Nickle performing Rachmaninoff’s Suite No. 2 for Two Pianos, as well as violinist Ashley Hinson. The Mount Mercy Madrigal Singers and Cedar Rapids Washington High School Madrigal Singers will provide further selections from each country. Mount Mercy students will present theatrical scenes of Chekhov and O’Neill, and the Mount Mercy English Club will read American and Russian poetry with a backdrop of projected artwork selected by the Mount Mercy Art Club. This is event is free and open to the public as part of the Salon Arts Series.
