Event Description: The Coe College Concert Band and Jazz Band will perform a fall concert on Sunday, Nov. 1, beginning at 2 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium. The family-friendly concert is free and open to the public. In honor of Halloween, the Coe College Concert Band will perform magical music from the film "ET" as composed by John Williams, as well as Eric Whitacre's haunted "Ghost Train." Coe's new flute professor, Shivhan Dohse, will be featured in a piccolo solo newly arranged for the band by Steve Shanley, Coe's music education professor. Rounding out the concert will be the Iowa premiere of a newly commissioned work by beloved American composer, David Holsinger. The Coe Concert Band is under the direction of Alma A. Turechek Professor of Music William Carson. The Jazz Band, conducted by Shanley, will perform music by Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Cedar Rapids native Bret Zvacek.
