Event Description: Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Economist Jennifer Marietta-Westberg will present "Economic Analysis at the SEC" in an upcoming Spellman Speaker Series presentation at Coe College. The lecture will be held on Thursday, Oct. 22, beginning at 7 p.m. in Kesler Lecture Hall in Hickok Hall. It is open to the public at no charge. Marietta-Westberg is deputy director and deputy chief economist for the Division of Economic Risk and Analysis (DERA) with the SEC. In 2000, Marietta-Westberg earned a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Iowa. A former assistant professor of finance at the Michigan State University, she joined the SEC in 2006. She assumed her current role at the agency in 2013. The Spellman Speaker Series is made possible by funding from the William Spellman Memorial Fund. The fund was established in 1997 to honor the late Dr. William E. Spellman, the former department chair and George R. Baker Professor of Economics and Business Administration at Coe.
