Event Description:
Join Dr. Robert Cargill, Assistant Professor of Judaism and Christianity at the University of Iowa, as he presents "Jerusalem at the Time of Jesus: How Geography Helps Us Understand the Bible" on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. in Kesler Lecture Hall in Hickok Hall.
Many of the stories found in the Bible are described as having taken place in a specific geographical context. A knowledge of this historical geography helps illuminate the text of the Bible. In this lecture, University of Iowa professor Robert Cargill describes the geography of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus, and demonstrates how a knowledge of this geography may change our understanding of the stories about Jesus in the Bible.
This event is free and open to the public.
