Event Description:
The humanitarian strife and disasters of the late 1990s in Serbia are translated into a social need to find beauty in all things life can bestow in PREVIOUSLY BLUE. The theatrical presentation will open the Coe College Marquis Series with performances on Saturday, Sept. 5 and Tuesday, Sept. 8, both beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Dows Theatre.
Marquis Series patrons can purchase individual tickets for $15, $10 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased online by clicking here or by calling the Cox Box Office at 399-8600, Monday - Friday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. (summer hours). Tickets will also be available at the door each night of the events.
A poetic summit on the mystery of disaster, resilience and beauty, PREVIOUSLY BLUE is a capstone project created with sustained devising techniques that have influenced artists all over the world. PREVIOUSLY BLUE is devised from unconventional techniques of choreodirection, speak-singing chance arias, hand percussion, tragic "songlines" and scenic presence. With patterns of water and a longing for skies that were previously blue, a few survivors try to defy an eclipse of distress and distraction. In the face of tragedy, what if there is a world of beauty regardless of personal, political or global injustice?
