Event Description: Coe College alumnus Mason Kuhn will present "The Importance of Being a Scientifically Literate Citizen" as the plenary speaker for the college's 15th annual Student Research Symposium. A 2000 graduate of Coe, Kuhn was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, the highest award bestowed to a math or science teacher in the United States. During his speech, Kuhn will describe how his Coe experience helped transform him from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. The symposium presentations, which range from academic research projects to artistic displays and performances, are the culmination of work done by students over the past academic year. The featured work represented in the symposium is the result of honors projects, student participation in ongoing professional research programs, and the cumulative products of undergraduate careers of achievement in the arts.
