Event Description: Pulitzer Prize-winning authority on Ebola, global health and disease prevention Laurie Garrett will be the speaker for the 12th Coe College Contemporary Issues Forum on Tuesday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium. The only person to win the three P's of journalism - the Pulitzer, the Polk, and the Peabody - Garrett masterfully explains the science behind new threats to global health, and navigates the politics that help, and hinder, how we prepare and how we respond to them. The event was originally scheduled for Feb. 3, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather. Tickets already issued for the event will be honored on the rescheduled date. Reserved seating is available by calling the Coe Box Office at 319-399-8600 from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Ticket prices are $10 for the general public and $5 for students and seniors. Tickets will also be available at the door. Garrett has been a widely sought media commentator on the Ebola crisis as well as the recent measles outbreak. A former award-winning science reporter for NPR and Newsday, Garrett regularly writes for many publications, including Foreign Affairs, Esquire, Vanity Fair, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post and Current Issues in Public Health. She has appeared frequently on national television programs, including "Nightline," "NewsHour with Jim Lehrer," "The Charlie Rose Show," "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "Dateline" and "Meet the Press."
