Event Description:
The Coe College English Department welcomes poets Erica Bernheim and Hai-Dang Phan to Coe as part of the Creative Writing Reading Series.
Bernheim is currently an associate professor of English at Florida Southern College, where she directs the creative writing program. Her first full-length collection, “The Mimic Sea,” was published by 42 Miles Press in 2012 and she is also the author of a chapbook, “Between the Room and the City.” Her work has recently appeared or is forthcoming in “The Laurel Review,” “Saw Palm” and “DIAGRAM.”
Phan was born in Vietnam and raised in Wisconsin. His poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in “The New Yorker,” “Lana Turner,” “DIAGRAM,” “The Volta” and elsewhere. A chapbook, “Small Wars,” is forthcoming from Convulsive Editions in 2015. Phan currently lives in Des Moines and teaches at Grinnell College.
Both will read from new work and participate in a question-and-answer discussion with Assistant Professor of English Nick Twemlow. The reading is free and open to the public.
