Event Description:
The musical ambassadors of the U.S. Army - the United States Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus - will perform at Coe College on Wednesday, March 4, beginning at 7 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium. The musicians will perform band music ranging from traditional marches to patriotic tunes as well as a variety of choral selections.
Tickets are available at no charge and they will be required for this concert. In order to receive up to four free tickets, you should send a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Music Department Army Band Tickets, Coe College, 1220 First Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402. Ticket holders must be seated by 6:45 p.m. Unclaimed seats will be released to non-ticket holders at 6:50 p.m. Although a limited number of tickets may be available at the door that night, it is highly recommended that those interested in attending request tickets in advance, as previous concerts by military bands at Coe have sold out.
Based in Washington, D.C., the Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus were founded in 1946 and 1957, respectively. These two ensembles combine to present joint concerts on their national tours. They have performed in all 50 states and 30 foreign countries for audiences totaling hundreds of millions.
The 65-member Field Band and the 29-member Soldiers' Chorus perform regularly in some of the most famous concert halls in the world, and just as often in the humblest auditoriums in the smallest of communities. The joining of these two ensembles allows them to offer unparalleled versatility of programming, ranging from orchestral masterworks and operatic arias to Sousa marches, jazz classics and Broadway musicals.
