Event Description: Mount Mercy will host African-American community leaders from Johnson County for a professional panel titled “Black Women Symposium.” Dr. April Dirks-Bihun and Mount Mercy Multicultural Affairs will work together to highlight strong African-American women in the community for Black History Month. Panelists will include local professionals such as engineers, community advocates, social workers, business owners, sorority advisors, residence life directors and diversity trainers. The panelists will share their stories of courage, oppression, strength and leadership that have led them to the positions they hold and the lives they live today. The panel will be of conversation/Q&A manner with snacks available throughout the session.
