Event Description: The Cedar Valley Humane Society will offer dog obedience classes beginning at the end of April. There are two seven-week sessions: Tuesdays at 7 p.m. beginning April 29; and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. beginning April 30. The class will cover focus, sit, down, stay, stand, walking on a loose leash, heel, and recall. Classes are an hour long and will be held at the Cedar Valley Humane Society, 7411 Mount Vernon Road SE in Cedar Rapids. Cost is $90 in advance, or $100 on the first day of class. The class fee includes a Martingale training collar. Class size is limited to 10. Dogs must be at least five months old with a current rabies vaccination. Classes will be taught by Gary Harrington, an Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer and AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. This will be his eighth year teaching at the Cedar Valley Humane Society. All proceeds benefit homeless animals at the Cedar Valley Humane Society. Register at www.cvhumane.org.
