Event Description: Paddle Day offers something for every paddler, whether a beginner or seasoned veteran. Connect with a paddling buddy, share experiences, learn about new gear or discover a new place to paddle. We'll have displays, door prizes and engaging presentations. Doors open at noon for you to browse exhibits and displays from various paddling organizations. Speakers include: Dennis Wiedeman, author of "This Water Goes North", shares his story as a young greenhorn who sets off with three friends from the cornfields of Iowa in two beat-up canoes on a 1400 mile voyage from Minnesota to the polar bears of Hudson Bay. Todd Robertson, Iowa DNR River Programs Outreach Coordinator, introduces you to "stand up paddling" with equipment and endless enthusiasm. Cherie Haupt-Artz, State Archaeology Office, interprets the cultural history we paddle past on the Iowa and Cedar Rivers. COST: Nature Center and Sticks in the Water Members: $8; Non-Members: $12.
