Event Description: The 2013 benches will exhibit a simple concept with minimalist design, allowing the benches to slowly reveal their complexity. What on the surface will seem a simple color palette will give way to visual, textual, and verbal patterns that tie benches together and relate an underlying system of order. Increased time spent in the space will provide rich rewards for those attentive, though with the clean, minimalist aesthetic brief encounters with the environs will also be pleasant. APRIL 19th BenchMarks 2.0 Community Introduction A public introduction to the next iteration of UICCU’s BenchMarks project. This presentation will outline the changes happening for BenchMarks 2.0 and serve as an introduction to the conceptual and community framework for participants, past artists, and the general public by creative lead, John Engelbrecht. Information on how the project will run, how people and organizations can be involved, and the visual aesthetic of the project will be addressed.
