Event Description: Design guru Justin Ahrens says that all good art possesses a bit of wonder—a touch of mystery, beauty or uncertainty that draws the viewer in a little closer to the artist’s angst. He says design, on the other hand, is often approached as an “output,” telling the viewer what to think, rather than inviting them in to an encounter with wonder. Ahrens will explore the art of wonder through film, story and design examining the ideas and projects that cause us to look at things with a refreshed perspective. Ahrens is founder, principal and Creative Director of Rule29 Creative in Geneva, IL. He is the author of “Life Kerning: Creative Ways to Fine Tune Your Perspective on Career and Life.” His work can be seen in leading industry publications such as Communication Arts, HOW, PRINT, Graphis, Graphic Design USA, and HOW Design Books. His clients have ranged from nonprofit organizations to Fortune 500 corporations.
