Event Description:
Ready to change your Facebook status to “busted?” Or become the mayor of county jail on Foursquare? It’s important to know the legal requirements and ramifications of marketing via social media. Internet marketing legal expert John Pickerill explains it all at this luncheon hosted by the American Advertising Federation: Cedar Rapids-Iowa City on October 25. The ever-evolving nature of the social media marketplace makes the legal landscape confusing. Marketers need to understand the tricks and trends associated with social media before putting themselves, and their clients, at risk.
Pickerill will discuss copyright, trademark, privacy, and contractual concerns and will explore site-specific rules, government guidelines and industry best practices that will help maximize creative effectiveness while protecting you and your clients.
John Pickerill is the Chair of Fredrikson & Byron’s Advertising, Marketing & Trademark group in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He has developed a specialty in guiding clients through the legal minefield of internet marketing. Before joining the Fredrikson & Byron law firm, John was an advertising executive at Carmichael Lynch managing campaigns for such clients as Harley-Davidson, Rollerblade and Volvo Trucks.
