Few elements of modern construction have as great an impact on long-term sustainability as roofs. In addition to saving energy, roofs also provide an attractive platform for the deployment of sustainable energy technologies, including solar and wind power, and serve as the "first responder" to critical environmental impacts such as heat island effects, air pollution, and storm water runoff. Developed by the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing, RoofPoint is a roofing-specific green building rating system designed to promote an environmentally responsible built environment. This presentation will highlight the criteria and methodology incorporated into RoofPoint.
